OK, so after going through forums and trying many codes I just rebooted to end all my processes and everything went fine. until sudo apt-get upgrade –fix-broken

I get;

error: cannot read from '/dev/sda'.

it hangs and just keeps repeating the error.

This is the problem i was having when i initially tried installing ubuntu (right now i am just trying to get my wireless driver, ubuntu runs just fine). The harddrive was bad on this laptop so i had to get an external and install it on that. i think it is, for whatever reason, trying to read my bad internal hd. Any help would be great. So far, everything else on ubuntu seems to be fine. But then again, I have barely been using it because I don't have the wireless driver. right now i am crammed in a corner next to my router lol. Please help if you can.

As with virtually every other (non geek) ex windows newbie on this thread I am completely and utterly baffled by this moronic, backward 1980's O/S. All I am trying to do is install a tar.gz file to update flash.......no one has managed to provide an easy to follow answer.

Those smug techie types who have the time to sit fiddling with command line and terminal input codes really piss me off...declaring we are lazy windows users or just plain stupid, really does not help! I am a hard working commercial pilot with very little free time on my hands, I am neither stupid or lazy. All I want is a good virus free operating system that is simple to use.

It is this sort of attitude shown towards ex windows users that will ensure Linux NEVER reaches more than 2% of computer users world-wide..

I hate the global grip Microsoft has on PC's...but I can easily see why it does. perhaps in another 100 years when Linux has dragged intself into the GUI world more people will start using it.

Is there no-one who actually knows how to install these tar.gz files? or are you all just bulshitting us ex windows users in your usual arrogant and unhelpful way?

Thank you, I have recently been looking for information approximately this subject for ages and yours is the best I've found out till now. However, what in regards to the conclusion? Are you positive concerning the source?|What i do not realize is in reality how you are not really a lot more smartly-appreciated than you may be right now. You are very intelligent.
