Google has reportedly put together an investment program specifically for artificial intelligence ventures. The venture capital program is led by Anna Patterson, Google’s VP of engineering, according to Axios.

The recent release of the tech company’s first open source hardware project is opening doors for ‘makers’ the world over looking to create their own voice assistants, just like Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s Siri. Google’s Voice Kit comprises a natural language recognizer powered by a Raspberry Pi that can be paired with the Google Assistant to create your own personal Amazon Echo, all in the size of a small cube.

Google has removed 41 Android apps from the official Play Store. The apps were infected with a new type of malware named Judy, and experts estimate the malware infected between 8.5 and 36.5 million users.

Google’s I/O conference concluded last week, and if there’s one thing people will be talking about long after it’s over it’s Google Lens.
Google Lens is a technology that integrates Google’s search engine with a smartphone’s camera. By taking a photo with Google Lens your camera will be able to recognize objects and search for them on the web.
It goes deeper than that though, as CEO Sundar Pichai’s keynote went on some further examples were shown.

One persistent criticism of Silicon Valley is that it no longer works on big, world-changing ideas. Every few months, a dumb start-up will make the news — most recently the one selling a $700 juicer — and folks outside the tech industry will begin singing I-told-you-sos.
