Knoppix 5.1.1 is one of the most interesting and complete Linux built to be booted directly from a USB key. Portable Skype 3: the new -state of the art- portable Skype!

Skype Today, in our Freeware Page, we posted some useful links to three different portable versions of Skype. In few lines we describe two classical (old but till succesfully used) versions with all the links to better understand how they work and where it is possible to download them.
Last but not least, we write about the new Portable Skype 3 which recently has released on the web and we put a link where it is possible to download this new fantastic freeware. This new version not only is the best I’ve never used but it is also the simpliest I’ve never installed on a USB. Skype Time!

Super Grub: how to solve boot problems in Linux, Windows, OS Independent

Super Grub is a very practical and useful free bootable cd which can be very useful when you need to solve boot problems in Linux, Windows and other OS Independent. In our Linux page, Frank wrote a descriptive post about the many features you can find (and effectively use) in this terrific bootable cd. Super Grub is very light (just 1.45 MB of cdrom .iso), supports seven different languages and can be downloaded also in its floppy disk version.

Watch your DVDs in the PSP using AutoGK and 3GP Converter!

PSP Today, in our freeware page, we have posted some lines about converting DVD in PSP videos. The freeware conversion method we described is one of the easiest you can use (if not, please, let us know your favourite method). Anyway, after the installation of two strong freewares, AutoGK and 3GP Converter (both very simple and easy to use) you can watch the DVDs you bought on the PSP. The first time, you have to install and correctly configure these freewares (more or less you spend 30-40 minutes) but after that, all the conversion sessions will not be too long (if you are not a video quality “puritan”). Last but not least… be connected with us during the Christmas period… we are planning to post a special review for USB portable software (more precisely, freeware). Thanks to you all!

Thank you to Yietzel who posted a comment asking us some information about how to create a tar file. In the Linux page we created a short but effective post about this topic. This short manual (yes it is a manual because we included also the instructions to create: gz, bz2, tar.gz, tar.bz2, zip, lha, arj, zoo, rar files) is short but very clear and easy to use. Kororaa AIGLXgl 0.3 Live CD, put a 3D Linux in your pc!

Kororaa Frank has reviewed a bootable Linux CD called Kororaa. This particular Linux version (derived from Gentoo Linux philosophy) has a fantastic and efficient 3D graphics. In particular you will be astonished (we really were surprised) by the 3D desktop supported in Kororaa. The most interesting thing is that you can use this bootable Linux CD also if you have not a “last generation”, powerful graphic card! We hope you will enjoy Kororaa and.. please.. if you want let us know your point of view writing some comments about this Linux version. Thanks.

This week, in our Freeware Page, we posted a review about Lyx. Lyx is an wonderful multiplatform (Linux, Mac OS X, Windows) word processor which has many advanced features. Personally I suggest to use Lyx only if you are looking for a powerful freeware which is able to create advanced documents (DVI, pdf in its 7.0 version). The results, you can obtain using Lyx, are amazing and very professional. The first time you will use Lyx you have to spend some hours to understand the different “philosophy” behind this freeware but after the necessary training you are very satisfied about the documents you have created.
